So our internet went out on Sunday and as distressing as it is to make the calls and arrangements for repair service I realize that in 3 days of it’s absence I really didn't miss it. I realize also that in the nearly 14 years that we have lived at our house we have not been free of the internet for a period longer than 12 hours. The detox from the e-heroin was actually quite a revelatory experience. It made me realize how addictive and counterproductive this whole e-world actually is.
I am old enough to remember the world without the internet. I was fairly young then and not yet sexually active and back then we did things normally. We met because we liked someone we met because of eye contact or magnetic attraction, we had crushes and infatuations and all of this played out in the way evolution had intended. No quick fixes, no instant gratification. Just the purity of a genuine connection. It was a better world.
